Artist's Description
This mama hummingbird built her nest in a birch tree right outside our front door. She layed eggs and sadly, the nest was attacked shortly thereafter. Probably a cat or other animal got to them. This photo is my way of immortalizing the sweet little mama hummingbird that brought us joy and comfort every day.
About Spencer Hughes
I have been in love with photography since the glory days of Kodachrome using my classic Kodak 110 camera as a child. Born and raised in San Francisco, I was spoiled with such incredible scenery and subjects--from the concrete jungle of downtown to the majestic redwoods of Muir Woods, from the crashing ocean waves to the ghostly bunkers of World War II. Photography is a sweet, glorious, joy filled adventure for me. It is where I find complete peace and zen.
