Artist's Description
The walls of this old military fortification is caving in on itself. The toll of time and the power of nature are reclaiming what is theirs. I loved the clash between a symbol of security and comfort and the surrounding chaos and decay.
About Spencer Hughes
I have been in love with photography since the glory days of Kodachrome using my classic Kodak 110 camera as a child. Born and raised in San Francisco, I was spoiled with such incredible scenery and subjects--from the concrete jungle of downtown to the majestic redwoods of Muir Woods, from the crashing ocean waves to the ghostly bunkers of World War II. Photography is a sweet, glorious, joy filled adventure for me. It is where I find complete peace and zen.
